As with any bad habit or new way, before us might lie a long, unfamiliar, road of recovering a right way to read the Bible. Ben closes this course with an invitation: simply practice the content of these sessions, as you consider various commands, stories, and passages of the Bible, asking God to help you see each through this book’s new lens. He gives examples of how this might look by looking at three biblical themes, and encourages dependence on God’s Spirit, to increasingly realize how fully the good news of the gospel informs our walk with God, our relationships with others, and our everyday lives.

In this session:

  • Read: Acts 2; Matthew 5-6

  • Reflection Questions

  • Watch 27 minute video

  • Exercise

Read: Acts 2; Matthew 5-6

Reflect

  • What about this session was new or different than you’d heard before?

  • What is exciting, and what is hard, about committing to see every passage of the Bible through this renewed lens – and who will walk with you in that journey?

  • How did this session – and the right lens for reading the Bible – change your view of judgment, blessing, and “church” – and how does that tangibly impact your life?

  • How does seeing every command, story, and passage of the Bible through the lens of the gospel change your walk with God, relationships with others, and everyday life?

Exercise

  • This may seem like an obvious way to end the course, this session’s final exercise is a charge and invitation, to simply practice! Grow a little each day, as you consider the Bible’s commands, stories, and passages. Ask God to help you see each through this course’s new lens.

  • Then prayerfully live as if the gospel informs your walk with God, relationships with others, and everyday life… and bring people along from your faith community as you do.
