YOUR HOME AS A WEAPON FOR THE GOSPEL
Welcome to the Home as a Weapon for the Gospel course!
Every session of this course involves a Bible reading, a video training, reflection questions, and a hands-on assignment for you to carry out — ideally in the context of community as you consider various church planting realities.
We encourage you not just to watch the videos, but to work through all components of each session. That will better equip you as you consider the intersection of biblical hospitality and everyday discipleship.
Along the way you can share your learnings, and of course, feel free to reach out if you need anything. Thank you for participating in this Digital Course!
Course Overview (Session One starts below)
Where does the majority of discipleship take place?
For many people, “home” (in whatever form it comes) is a place for privacy, retreat, and escape. But what if God meant something different — something better — in giving us our homes?
Dhati & Angie Lewis (Blueprint Church, Atlanta) have five kids and have had people live with them for most of their marriage. They have seen the high points and low points of biblical hospitality. And they want to challenge you to reframe your view of “home,” into a counter-cultural tool the sake of the kingdom.
In this three-session Digital Course, the Lewises share from their heard-earned wisdom and experience, how every home can be a weapon for hospitality in general, for discipling kids, and for discipling others… in short, your home can be a weapon for the gospel! Each session involves a brief training video, as well as follow-up work to make the content personal and tangible. Certainly a course like this cannot cover every aspect of thriving in ministry, but The Equipping Group’s hope is that it serves you well, and helps grow your hospitality and discipleship efforts…which often take place on your couch, in your yard, and at your home.
SESSION ONE
A Weapon for Hospitality
In our busy & individualistic lives, what does it look like to view our houses, possessions, and lives in a counter-cultural way? Rather than merely seeing our homes as a place of retreat or self-focus, Dhati and Angie Lewis share from some of their own experiences, some simple but stretching ways they open their table, home, and family to others, for the sake of the gospel. They help us fight cultural norms and challenge us to create spaces for real relationships and gospel restoration.
