PERSONALIZED TRAINING

Helping shape a gospel culture in
your life, organization, mission, and/or ministry.

  • Let’s talk about a current need! Through one call or regular interactions with assignments between each, we’ll help you overcome your hurdle.

  • We come to you, or you/your team comes to us -- whether one time or many -- as we work through your topics or tensions together.

  • Whether a personal retreat, sabbatical advice, ministry next step, or specific need/question, our Trainers lead you in intentional discernment.

  • Pending availability, a Trainer embeds into your culture for several weeks, to serve you and your organization from a more “insider” perspective.

We are not consultants, presenting ourselves as formal experts who remain a step removed from you and your organization. Rather, Equipping Group trainers pursue the posture of relational care, get to know you and your situation, and offer seasoned advice like that of a trusted sibling.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We’re always open to new ideas and concepts, and we’re here to serve whatever your greatest needs are. But in general, The Equipping Group’s primary training themes are geared toward serving leaders, shaping cultures, & training planters, through the lenses of “gospel-infused, Spirit-led, mission-focused, kingdom-minded mission & ministry.” To that end, we prioritize these themes:

    Gospel-Centered Life & Discipleship

    Everyday Mission

    Genuine Community

    Leader Health & Self-Awareness

    Church Culture of Discipleship

    Church Planting

    Spirit-Ledness & Prayer

    Gospel Justice

    Creativity in Ministry

  • The Equipping Group recognizes the annual flow involved in ministry leadership. Since our team is made up of on-the-ground practitioners just like you, we strive to offer time-specific trainings in lighter ministry seasons, and go-at-your-pace courses and resources in heavier seasons. So if you’re looking for a specific type of training, here’s a general idea:

Online Workshops occur 5-6 times a year, often in January, March, May, July, September, and/or November

Learning Communities generally start in February, after Easter, and after Labo(u)r Day

Digital Courses, ebooks, and similar resources, are available year-round, and often release before Easter, and at the start of summer and winter holidays

Residencies generally follow the school year, and start in Sept with applications due by the previous June

Live training events are available year-round, pending Trainer availability, and flex to your church’s/organization’s schedule

  • One of The Equipping Group’s values for our training to be financially “accessible > exclusive”. So our financial model involves both a “pay-what-you-can” policy, and support-raising to help get training into the hands of those who need it but can’t afford it. We can’t offer scholarships on every training, but we’re truly excited to do so as we can. Click here to apply for a scholarship, or here to support a scholarship for someone else.

  • The Equipping Group is a decentralized collective of fruitful practitioners in varied content areas. We primarily pursue three training methods: (a) resources (e.g. articles and downloadable .pdf’s), (b) online trainings (e.g. digital courses or learning communities), and (c) in-person trainings (e.g. training events and residencies).

We pursue Trainer freedom and experimentation, to create fruitful experiences for disciples, leaders, and planters. And our trainers hold each other to high standards, to truly “equip the church for fruitful, gospel infused mission and ministry.”

A three-phase, peer-approval process helps you know whether it’s the right time to become a certified trainer, and/or to create new resources/training content, with the Equipping Group:

Affirm your experience & capacity: Since we support churches, Trainers must be committed, and in good standing, with a local church. Others must affirm your fruitfulness in the content you wish to train, and you must affirm your willingness and time capacity to train with The Equipping Group, in a way that will not hinder other mission, ministry, and responsibilities for a specific season. You also agree to submit an original article/blog post to be published each month of your involvement with The Equipping Group.

Affirm our training postures: The Equipping Group is committed to a unified posture in our trainings, whether online or in-person: We train unified content that engages the head, heart, and hands. We train as humble, personal, servant-practitioners (more on our posture here) (LINK TO PDF). And we recognize the overlap of our trainings, each as interrelated pieces of a greater whole.

Trainer Certification: Once a potential Trainer affirms these things, he/she enters a multi-faceted “trainer certification,” which is itself an example of our training. With prep work, peer discussion, practice, and feedback, you’re certified as a trainer in a content area(s).
