PRACTICAL WISDOM FOR LEADERS
Welcome to the Practical Wisdom for Leaders course!
Every session of this course involves a Bible reading, some video trainings, reflection questions, and a hands-on assignment for you to carry out — ideally in the context of a team that you’re leading with.
We encourage you not just to watch the videos, but to work through all components of each session. That will better equip you as you consider the realities of planting a church.
Along the way you can share your learnings, and of course, feel free to reach out if you need anything. Thank you for participating in this Digital Course!
Course Overview (Session One starts below)
What help do you need for your day-to-day leadership?
Leadership can be overwhelming. There are so many decisions to make, so many needs to meet, so many things to do, so many people to serve… We can often feel like we’re not doing enough, or not doing the right thing. And after too many of these decisions, leaders can feel like we’re failing.
Sometimes we simply need a little help! In this five-session course, Alan Briggs (founder, Stay Forth Designs, Colorado Springs) shares 15 short, practical, and immediately-implementable teachings, on questions every leader asks, such as…
How do I know the right next step?
How can I feel less overwhelmed?
What should I give time to, vs. delegate?
What does rest actually look like?
What do I do when I feel like a failure?
Why don’t I have any margin?
Each session involves reflection questions and an assignment to make the content personal and tangible. These punchy, practical axioms — gleaned from Alan’s years of leading multiple different organizations and coaching dozens of leaders — will offer the practical wisdom many leaders need. They’ll truly help you become a better leader, today!
SESSION ONE
BREATHING WHEN YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED
People… tasks… emails… coaching… leading… serving… and somehow catching your breath and sleeping too!?
Leadership can feel overwhelming! There can always feel like way too much to do! At times you can even feel paralyzed!
So what do we do? How do we clear our minds, catch our breath, and fight overwhelm, in our day to day leadership?
In this session, Alan Briggs considers the concept of overwhelm from three unique angles, and asks you to reflect on a life that isn’t overwhelmed or underwhelmed... but to simply ask, “what does it like to live ‘whelmed’?”
